As the year was drawing to a close, the company set up a year-end dinner under the excuse of a closing ceremony. In this tiny office, everyone except me was a smoker, so I was worried I’d be bored on my own -- but luckily, the team leader stayed with me. Hearing so many nice things today, enough to be confusing, I suddenly realized something. But wait -- aren’t you a chain smoker? The way he answered so casually gave me certainty. So it wasn’t just my imagination after all.
