Outside the Party

Another year has already slipped by. What have I even been doing to end up just getting older like this? The thought that I might never date -- or even get married -- left me feeling unsettled. So I went. To a social networking party that everyone’s been talking about lately. It was openly labeled a “Singles Party.” As I sipped my wine there, I kept locking eyes with one man, again and again. Something felt oddly in sync between us, and before we knew it, we quietly slipped out of the place together.
