A Page Deeper Than Any Book

We got to know each other through a book club, and every time we talked about books, our tastes aligned so well that we naturally grew close. One day, after the meeting ended as usual, he asked if I wanted to come over and look at his full book collection. That’s how I ended up at his place. We were reading a classic together when I noticed something different in the air -- something unlike our usual atmosphere.
